Antibody consulting for diagnostics and early-stage drug developers

Expert guidance on identifying, optimizing, and sourcing antibodies for your programs.

Antibody consulting services

I will work with you to understand your program and identify the best path forward.

Diagnostic Antibodies

From immunoassay development to validation.

Primary antibodies

Advice on selecting the best antibody or antibody pair for your assay, guiding through considerations such as epitopes, format, species, commercial vs published options, sourcing, and whether or not a new antibody discovery campaign is warranted.

Secondary antibodies

Advice on selecting the best secondary antibody for your assay, guiding through options such as epitopes, format, species, monoclonal vs. polyclonal, labeling options, and sourcing.

Antibody de-risking

Advice on identifying antibody risks, including sequence liabilities (when sequences available), analytical characterization, storage and handling, supplier quality control due diligence, and strategies to reduce risk.

Commercial vendor or CRO selection and management

Advice on identifying the best commercial supplier or CRO for custom production, evaluating both cost and quality control processes, to ensure lot-to-lot consistency and reliable reagent supply. CRO relationship management services, including helping to draft detailed work plans, milestone deliverables, and timelines.

Therapeutic Antibodies

From hit identification to candidate selection.

Antibody discovery

Advice on approaches toward antibody discovery, including:

  • Antigen design: guided by structure and desired epitopes.

  • Animal immunizations: mouse, llama/alpaca.

  • Phage display: immunized vs naive libraries.

  • Format selection: full-length IgG (IgG1 vs IgG4) or antibody fragments, such as scFv or VHH.

Antibody optimization

Advice on engineering approaches to improving antibodies: affinity, stability, and manufacturability, including identification of sequence liabilities, designing focused libraries, and assay development.

Multi-specific antibodies

Advice on multi-specific formats, including an assessment of risks associated with each and strategies for success. This includes different approaches to correct heavy chain pairing, light chain pairing, scFv fusions, VHH fusions, others.

CRO selection & management

Advice on selecting, comparing, and evaluating antibody CROs. CRO management services, including helping to draft detailed work plans, milestone deliverables, and timelines.

About

Hector Aldaz, PhD

I am an antibody scientist with 17 years of industry experience spanning antibody discovery, antibody engineering, bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, biosensors, and immunoassay and molecular diagnostics. My work has resulted in novel diagnostic assay platforms and validation, therapeutic antibody candidate nomination, and new approaches to bispecific antibody construction. I have extensive experience as both a hands-on scientist and manager of CRO partnerships.

I founded Green Lake Bioscience to help diagnostic assay and early-stage drug developers make the best possible decisions for their antibody programs.
